
The recently elected BJP legislators in Madhya Pradesh have chosen Dr. Mohan Yadav as the state’s new chief minister. Earlier this month, the BJP achieved a significant victory in Madhya Pradesh, securing 166 seats. Representing the Ujjain Dakshin constituency, Mohan Yadav, who has served as an MLA since 2013, won the 2018 and 2023 assembly elections from the same seat.
Additionally, Mohan Yadav is a cabinet minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government and has a clean image, backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, he holds multiple educational degrees, including BSC, LLB, MA, MBA, and PhD. Married to Seema Yadav, they have two sons and a daughter.
In the 2023 elections, Mohan Yadav secured victory by a margin exceeding 13,000 votes. Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla, outgoing finance minister and public relation minister respectively, have been elected as deputy chief ministers. Former Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is now the speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
Coming from the Other Backward Class (OBC), Mohan Yadav’s appointment aims to appeal to the OBC community, constituting more than half of Madhya Pradesh’s electorate. Notably, he has been actively involved in the state’s wrestling associations.
