Pune police today detained Manorama Khedkar, mother of trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar, on charges of possessing illegal weapons. The arrest comes amid a series of allegations against Pooja Khedkar, including abuse of office and cheating in the UPSC exam.
Manorama Khedkar’s legal troubles intensified after a video went viral on social media, showing her threatening a farmer with a gun over a land dispute. Following the video’s circulation, Pune police registered a case and took swift action, detaining her for questioning.

The police have also filed charges against Manorama Khedkar’s husband, retired administrative officer Dilip Khedkar, in connection with the case. In a related development, the IAS training academy has suspended Pooja Khedkar’s trainee program due to the allegations of fraud. She has been instructed to appear at the training academy by July 23 for further proceedings.
