The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its first charge sheet in the NEET-UG paper leak case, naming 13 individuals involved in the leak and associated irregularities. The CBI utilized advanced forensic techniques, artificial intelligence, CCTV footage, and tower site analysis to compile evidence against the accused.

To date, 40 people have been arrested in connection with the case, with 15 arrests made by the Bihar Police. The CBI has conducted inspections at 58 locations and filed six FIRs as part of its investigation. Allegations of widespread irregularities have surfaced not only in Bihar but also in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.

The NEET-UG exam, held on May 5 across 4,750 centers nationwide, saw participation from around 24 lakh students. Results, initially slated for June 14, were expedited and released on June 4. The emergence of 67 students with perfect scores of 720 led to suspicions of a question paper leak, prompting nationwide protests.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for administering the NEET, faced delays due to the paper leak. The controversy has also sparked political debate, with opposition parties criticizing the government and the case being escalated to the Supreme Court. The CBI was assigned the investigation due to the case’s severity.
