Nomination Process Begins for First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections

The commencement of the nomination process for 102 parliamentary constituencies spanning 21 states and Union territories marked the initiation of the electoral proceedings for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, slated for April 19. This phase’s nomination process commenced with the issuance of a notification on Wednesday, as declared by the Election Commission on behalf of the President. As per the notification, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is set for March 27.

In Bihar, however, due to an impending festival, March 28 has been designated as the final date for filing nominations for Lok Sabha seats scheduled for polling in the initial phase. The first phase of polling in Bihar encompasses four out of its 40 parliamentary constituencies.

Scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for March 28, with the exception of Bihar, where it will occur on March 30. Candidates have until March 20 to withdraw their candidature, although in Bihar, this deadline extends to April 2.
