NTA Releases JEE Main 2024 Scorecards: 23 Achieve Perfect 100 Percentile

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently unveiled the scorecards for the initial session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024. Aspirants can access their scores via the official JEE Main website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. This session saw 23 students achieving a perfect 100 percentile, although notably, there were no female candidates among them. Dwija Dharmesh Kumar Patel from Gujarat clinched the top position among state toppers with an impressive NTA score of 99.99.

Telangana boasts the highest number of 100 percentilers with 7, followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan, each having three. Delhi and Haryana trail with 2 each, while Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka each contribute one.

This year’s JEE Main 2024 first session took place from January 24 to February 1, attracting 12,21,615 candidates to register for paper 1, with 11,70,036 candidates ultimately appearing for the exam.

Last year, the overall merit list featured 43 candidates scoring 100 percentile across both sessions. Of these, only one girl, Ridhi Kamlesh Kumar Maheshwari from Karnataka, achieved this feat. Telangana led with 11 candidates, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan with 5 each, Uttar Pradesh with 4, and Gujarat and Karnataka with 3 each. Delhi and Maharashtra had 2 each, while Haryana, Chandigarh, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh had one each.

For general category candidates, the JEE Advanced 2023 cut-off stood at 90.77, marking an increase from 88.4 in 2022 and 87.9 in 2021. In 2020 and 2019, the qualifying scores were 90.3 and 89.7, respectively.

To ensure fairness in assessing the JEE Main 2024 results, the NTA will implement a normalisation process. Given the exam’s multiple days and sessions, this procedure aims to maintain consistent difficulty levels across tests, preventing any candidate from gaining an unfair advantage or disadvantage. The normalisation process involves ranking students based on percentile scores calculated using a predetermined formula.
