ODI World Cup 2023: India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 run

India beat Sri Lanka by a massive 302 runs in the Match 33 of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli’s inspiring partnership, combined with Shreyas Iyer’s explosive performance in the middle overs, propelled India to a formidable total of 357/8 against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

A super performance was seen by the Indian pace trio Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Mohd Shami claimed 5-18 and Mohd Siraj took 3-16 for India. After winning the toss Sri Lanka decided to bowl first. So by batting first, team India put a huge target of 358 run against Sri Lanka. But unfortunately Sri Lanka has been able to make only 55 run and lost all its wickets only in 19.4 overs.

For team India, Virat Kohli scored 88 out off 94 balls, Shubman Gill scored 92 out off 92 and Shreyas Iyer did 82 out off 56 balls. Ravindra Jadeja’s 35 off 24 balls pushed India past 350. Taking about Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha top-scored for Sri Lanka with 14. Only two other Sri Lanka batters i.e. Angelo Mathews (12) and Maheesh Theekshana (12 not out) could reach double digits. On the other hand Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madhushanka was the stand out bowler for Sri Lanka ending with figures of five for 80 in 10 overs.

Till now team India had played 7 matches in this ongoing ODI Men’s World Cup 2023 and won 7 Out of 7 and becomes the First Team to Qualify For the Semi-Final.
