Odisha Budget Key Features

The government has underscored the importance of a developed Odisha for the overall progress of India. Emphasizing the cultural and spiritual identity of the state, a significant corpus fund of ₹500 crores has been allocated for the Jagannath Temple, highlighting its central role in the state’s heritage.

The total budget for the financial year 2024-25 stands at ₹2.65 lakh crores, marking a 15% increase over the previous year’s budget. The emphasis is placed on several key sectors, including agriculture, water resources, health, and education.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare

  • Agriculture Budget: The budget allocation for agriculture has increased to ₹33,919 crores from last year’s ₹24,829 crores.
  • Paddy Procurement: The government will buy paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal, offering ₹800 more than the fixed MSP.
  • CM Kisan Yojana: ₹1,935 crores allocated for the CM Kisan Yojana.
  • Prosperous Farmers Scheme: A new scheme with a budget of ₹5,000 crores aimed at enhancing farmers’ prosperity.

  • Adarsha Adivasi Village Programme: Aimed at converting 500 tribal villages into model villages over the next five years.

Social Security

  • Social Security Allowance: Increased to ₹3,500, benefiting seniors above 80 years and persons with disabilities not less than 80%.

  • Panchasakha Education : A budget allocation of ₹332 crores for the campaign.
  • Madhav Singh Hata Kharcha Scheme: To prevent school dropouts among ST children, providing ₹5,000 per annum to students in classes IX and XI.

    Sports Infrastructure
  • New Stadium in Bhubaneswar: ₹952 crores allocated for global sports infrastructure and new stadium construction.
