Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented the state budget in the assembly today, highlighting the government’s focus on developing Odisha and preserving its cultural heritage. As the Finance Minister, Majhi emphasized the importance of a developed Odisha for a developed India .
In his budget speech, Majhi announced a corpus fund of Rs 500 crores for the famous Jagannath Temple, underscoring the significance of Mahaprabhu Jagannath in Odia culture and identity. He stated, “An orthodox race cannot be imagined without Mahaprabhu Jagannath.”
The total budget presentation amounts to Rs 2 lakh 65 thousand crores, a 15% increase compared to the previous year’s budget. Notably, Majhi mentioned The BJP government has announced plans to discontinue the Kalia Yojana and instead, enhance the benefits of the PM Kisan Yojana. As part of this move, the government will provide additional perks to beneficiaries under the PM Kisan Yojana, indicating a shift in the government’s priorities.
Majhi’s budget presentation emphasized the government’s commitment to developing Odisha’s infrastructure, economy, and cultural heritage. The increased budget allocation is expected to drive growth and development in the state.
