Odisha election 2024: Candidates for these constituency are yet to be announced

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated preparations for the pivotal 2024 elections in Odisha, though major political factions such as the BJD, BJP, and Congress have yet to unveil their contenders for numerous Assembly seats in the state. Specifically, the ruling BJD has refrained from disclosing candidates for 12 out of the total 147 Assembly constituencies, while the BJP and Congress have withheld nominations for 16 and 9 Assembly seats respectively.

Recently, the Congress divulged the names of candidates for 3 Lok Sabha seats and 16 Assembly seats in Odisha, following the BJD’s announcement of its sixth phase list of candidates. Nevertheless, the BJD is still to reveal its contenders for Assembly seats including Raghunathpalli, Hindol, and Khandapada among others. Similarly, the undisclosed Assembly seats for the BJP and Congress encompass areas like Jeypore, Telkoi, Chhatrapur, and Jaleswar.

Despite both the BJP and BJD naming candidates for all 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, the Congress is yet to finalize its contenders for two Lok Sabha seats—Cuttack and Mayurbhanj. This ongoing process highlights the strategic positioning and careful deliberation undertaken by political parties in the run-up to the forthcoming elections.
