The Odisha government, on Friday, declared an increase in the remuneration for temporary teachers and the regularization of services for those who passed the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET). Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the announcement, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Temporary teachers, referred to as ‘Gana Sikshyaks’, who have not cleared the OTET, will receive higher remuneration. Their monthly pay will now be raised to Rs 10,000 from the current Rs 7,000. This adjustment will benefit 1,121 Gana Sikshyaks, as per the statement.
Patnaik also disclosed that the services of Gana Sikshyaks who have successfully passed the OTET will be regularized, allowing them to become assistant teachers. This decision is expected to benefit a total of 1,472 such teachers.
Furthermore, assistant teachers who have cleared the OTET but are not currently receiving annual increments will now be eligible for yearly increments. This change will be advantageous for 9,520 assistant teachers, the statement noted.
