On Tuesday, Odisha Vigilance arrested Assistant Engineer Nibedita Mohanty from Jatni Block, Khurda district, for accepting a ₹50,000 bribe. Mohanty was caught at her residence in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar, while demanding and receiving the bribe from a contractor to expedite the clearance of a pending bill for government construction work in Jatni Block.
The full amount of the bribe has been recovered and seized. Following the arrest, searches are being conducted at two locations related to Mohanty as part of a broader investigation into her assets.
A case has been registered under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 16/2024, Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing.
