The Ninth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog is taking place today in New Delhi under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Chief Ministers from various states are gathering to discuss state-specific issues and demands. The meeting aims to draft a plan to make India the world’s third-largest economy with a ₹410 trillion GDP and achieve developed nation status by 2047.
Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states are participating, but Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Kerala are absent. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is attending, has called for dissolving the Policy Commission and reinstating the Planning Commission.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is also attending, with attention focused on his demands for Odisha’s development. On July 16, the central government announced a new NITI Aayog team, including four full-time members, 15 NDA coalition ministers, and several special invitees.
