Wine and liquor will soon be available online, with a pilot project underway in the country. If successful, four online delivery apps – Swiggy, Big Basket, Zomato, and Blinkit – will partner with liquor companies to deliver alcohol to customers’ , doorsteps in just 10 minutes.
Leading liquor companies like Kingfisher and AB InBev are driving this initiative, also supporting domestic liquor distribution in various states. Initially, the focus is on delivering beer, wine, and low-alcohol liquor. However, liquor companies await government approval to move forward.
The move comes after the government allowed home delivery of liquor in four states during the coronavirus pandemic. This development paved the way for online liquor delivery services, set to transform the industry .
