PM Modi Highlights Five Years of Reform and Transformation in Parliament Address

On the final day of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha, underscoring the significant “reforms and transforms” witnessed in the nation over the past five years. He detailed a myriad of decisions, policies, and legislative actions implemented by his administration, highlighting the remarkable productivity of the 17th Lok Sabha, which stood at nearly 97%.

Among the pivotal decisions outlined by the Prime Minister was the long-awaited abrogation of Article 370, which conferred special status upon Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, the Budget Session of Parliament was extended by a day to address crucial government matters, a session initially scheduled to conclude on February 9, having commenced on January 31.

Reflecting on the past five years, Prime Minister Modi emphasized a period characterized by “reform, perform, and transform” initiatives. He commended Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for his adept leadership, lauding his impartiality and ability to navigate the House through various challenges.

Addressing infrastructure development, Prime Minister Modi credited Speaker Birla’s leadership for advancing discussions on the construction of a new Parliament building. He also expressed pride in India’s successful presidency of the G20 summit, citing it as a testament to the nation’s capabilities on the global stage.

In addition to legislative achievements, the Prime Minister highlighted strides in addressing social justice issues, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, where efforts have been made to combat terrorism and promote social equity. Notable legislative accomplishments of the 17th Lok Sabha, including the abolition of triple talaq and the abrogation of Article 370, were underscored as milestones in the nation’s journey towards progress and inclusivity.

Looking ahead, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of the next 25 years for India, affirming a commitment to continue advancing the nation’s democratic principles and fostering socio-economic development.
