PM Modi’s Visit to UAE on 13th to Inaugurate 1st Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) starting Tuesday, during which he will engage in extensive discussions with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and inaugurate Abu Dhabi’s inaugural Hindu temple. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the visit on Saturday, highlighting that this marks Modi’s seventh trip to the UAE since 2015.

According to the MEA, Modi and Al Nahyan will delve into avenues to further fortify the strategic partnership between the two nations, exchanging perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual concern. Additionally, the prime minister will convene with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s vice president, prime minister, and defense minister, at his invitation.

Moreover, Modi is slated to participate as the guest of honor at the 2024 World Government Summit in Dubai, delivering a special keynote address. Furthermore, he will inaugurate the BAPS Mandir, the foremost Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, and address the Indian community at a gathering in Zayed Sports City.

Highlighting the depth of relations between India and the UAE, the MEA underscored the robust political, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries. Following Modi’s significant visit to the UAE in August 2015, bilateral relations were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Subsequently, agreements such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 and the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) System in July 2023 were signed to facilitate cross-border transactions using the Indian Rupee and the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED).

Official data indicates that the UAE stands among India’s top trading partners, with bilateral trade amounting to approximately USD 85 billion in 2022-23. Additionally, the UAE ranks among the top four investors in India in terms of foreign direct investments during the same period.

Lastly, the MEA acknowledged the significant contribution of the 3.5 million strong Indian community residing in the UAE, describing them as a vital pillar of the excellent bilateral engagement. Their positive contributions to the host country’s development are widely recognized and appreciated.
