PM to launch 2nd Saffron Vande Bharat today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, initiating a range of developmental ventures and infrastructure projects on the inaugural day. Notable unveilings included the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train and translations of classic Tamil literature like Thirukkural and Manimekalai in multiple languages and Braille. The day also witnessed the Prime Minister’s participation in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, where he engaged with beneficiaries of various government schemes and explored the Viksit Bharat Yatra Van and Quiz event.

The second day of PM Modi’s visit promises additional inaugurations, featuring the launch of the second Vande Bharat train connecting Varanasi to New Delhi. Further boosting the logistics sector, the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the New Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction segment of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).

At 2:15 pm on the same day, the second edition of the advanced semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train will be flagged off. Sporting a saffron hue, this train boasts various passenger amenities, including onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, a GPS-based passenger information system, plush interiors, bio-vacuum toilets, diffused LED lighting, charging points beneath every seat, individual touch-based reading lights, and concealed roller blinds, as outlined by the Northern Railway.

The scheduled route of the Vande Bharat Express encompasses Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Itawa, Tundla, and Aligarh before reaching its destination, New Delhi.

The regular operation of the Vande Bharat Express is slated to commence on December 20, 2023. Departing from Varanasi at 6:00 AM, the train is expected to reach Prayagraj at 07:34 AM, Kanpur Central at 09:30 AM, and ultimately, New Delhi at 2:05 PM. The return journey will see the train departing from New Delhi at 3:00 PM, reaching Kanpur Central at 7:12 PM, Prayagraj at 9:15 PM, and concluding its journey in Varanasi at 11:05 PM.
