
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a significant contribution to the advancement of railway infrastructure and connectivity by laying the foundation stone and dedicating several railway projects valued at over Rs 85,000 crore. This momentous occasion will take place at the Operation Control Centre of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has confirmed that Modi’s itinerary includes visits to Gujarat and Rajasthan on March 12.
During his visit to Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Modi will initiate various projects, including the construction of railway workshops, loco sheds, pit lines, and coaching depots. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Phaltan-Baramati new line and oversee the upgrading of the electric traction system. Two new sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, namely the New Khurja to Sahnewal section of the Eastern DFC and the New Makarpura to New Gholvad section of the Western DFC, will be dedicated to the nation. Furthermore, the Operation Control Center (OCC) of the Western DFC in Ahmedabad will be inaugurated.
Moreover, Prime Minister Modi will launch ten new Vande Bharat trains, connecting various destinations such as Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central, Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam, and Mysuru to Dr. MGR Central in Chennai. Additionally, he will extend four existing Vande Bharat trains to reach new destinations and introduce two new passenger trains between Asansol and Hatia, and Tirupati and Kollam stations.
In Sabarmati, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the renovated Kochrab Ashram, which holds historical significance as Mahatma Gandhi’s first ashram in India. Preserved as a memorial and tourist attraction by Gujarat Vidyapeeth, the ashram will also witness the launch of its Master Plan during the Prime Minister’s visit.
Furthermore, during his trip to Pokhran in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi will observe a Tri-Services Live Fire and Manoeuvre Exercise titled ‘Bharat Shakti.’ This exercise aims to showcase India’s indigenous defence capabilities, reflecting the nation’s commitment to self-reliance. It will demonstrate integrated operational capabilities across multiple domains, including land, air, sea, cyber, and space, highlighting the strength of the Indian armed forces in countering various threats.
