The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ED) has launched a massive crackdown on international NGOs. Officers raided three locations in Sambalpur and one in Delhi, filing fraud charges worth ₹231 crore.
The ED targeted the Biswa NGO, founded by the late Kshirod Mallik, who was the brother of former minister and Opposition Chief Secretary Pramila Mallik. They raided Kshirod Mallik’s residence in Sambalpur simultaneously at three locations and carried out another raid in Delhi.
The ED charged the Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency with a ₹231 crore fraud. Investigators discovered that Kshirod had taken loans from multiple state-owned and private banks. Meanwhile, BJD leader Pramila Mallik has not responded to inquiries regarding the ED’s actions.
