
President Draupadi Murmu became the President of India from July 2022. Today, almost one and a half years after becoming the President, she is visiting Kashmir for the first time. There she will participate in the convocation ceremony of Kashmir University and will also participate in some other programs.
According to sources, after landing at the airport in Srinagar, President Murmu will first pay homage to the martyrs there. Later he will go to Kashmir University. He is scheduled to visit the army’s 15th Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh and pay tributes to the martyrs. There he will be briefed by the army commanders about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and especially in the valley of Kashmir.
President Draupadi Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony of Kashmir University today and will award the meritorious students of the university for the year 2020. Gold medals, PhD and MPhil degrees will be awarded to 400 students in the convocation ceremony. Along with this, the President will also attend a light and sound show at Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Tight security arrangements have been made in the Kashmir Valley for the President’s visit. The profiles of those who will attend the gathering have been reviewed. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around Srinagar city. Every activity is being monitored. Since last Monday, the roads leading into the city have been blocked at various places.
