Railway Minister Slams Opposition Over Train Accident Criticism

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav lashed out at opposition leaders in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, accusing them of politicizing train accidents. Vaishnav’s remarks came after opposition leaders demanded his resignation over recent rail accidents, including the Howrah-CSTM Mail derailment that killed three passengers.

Vaishnav targeted the Congress, saying, “We are not just reel makers, but people who work. Those who are shouting here should be asked why they could not install even one kilometer of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) in 58 years while being in power.”

The minister expressed displeasure over the opposition’s ruckus, telling them to sit down and accusing them of trying to create fear among railway passengers. Vaishnav highlighted his government’s efforts to improve rail safety, including the installation of electronic interlocking systems and the development of the Kavach ATP system.
