Ratna Bhandar will be opened once again. The inner treasury of the Sri Mandir, will be opened today after a gap of 46 years. The supervision committee will resume the work form where it was halted on July 14th. According to temple authorities, the inner gem will be unlocked between 9:51 am and 12:15 pm, and the team will transfer the jewelry to a temporary strong room. The process will be carried out under strict supervision, with members of the committee required to remove any personal jewelry before entering the treasury .
The temple administrator confirmed that three locks of the inner gem were broken, but two locks were removed, and the keys were secured by the treasury. The interior will be opened with a new lock from the treasury. The jewels will be temporarily stored in a vault equipped with CCTV and lights. Once the ASI repairs are completed, the jewels will be counted and appraised. The last count was conducted in 1978, which reported approximately 12,838 tons of gold, 22,153 tons of silver, and numerous precious gems .
Today’s event is highly anticipated, as it is expected to reveal secrets about the treasury’s contents, including the number of chests and cupboards. Additionally, it may confirm speculation about the existence of another room behind the ark and almirah on the side of the wall. Devotees have been prohibited from entering the Sri Mandir from 8 am onwards due to the opening of the inner gem.
