Earlier, people were addicted to love and alcohol, but now, drugs and social media reels have taken over. In the quest for likes and comments, individuals are risking their lives to become popular online. Some stand in front of moving trains to record reels, while others jump into water bodies, leading to tragic outcomes.
A fatal incident occurred in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, where a young man lost his life while making a reel. The youth, accompanied by his friend, went to a dam on Sunday evening. He handed his mobile phone to his friend to record the reel and then, in an attempt to create a dramatic scene, jumped into the dam.
Tragically, he began to drown and couldn’t make it back to the surface. Hearing the news, his family rushed to the scene and alerted the fire brigade. Despite extensive searching, the rescue team could only retrieve his body the following day.
The grieving family, mourning the loss of their beloved son, has blamed the addiction to reels for tearing their lives apart. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of seeking validation on social media at the cost of one’s life.
