Cuttack railway station, a legacy of British times, now showcases a modern look with advanced systems. For the first time in Odisha, the station’s platform directly connects to the national highway. Today, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate the third air-conditioned gate on the Shikharpur side of the station.
The newly designed Shikharpur Gate 3 offers seamless access between the station and the national highway, enabling passengers from far-off places to step out of the station and catch buses directly to their destinations.
The revamped platform includes four ticket counters for general passengers and a separate counter for Dibang passengers. The station premises now feature modern amenities such as lifts and escalators. Strict fines are in place to maintain cleanliness: ₹2000 for littering, ₹300 for spitting, ₹400 for urinating, ₹2000 for smoking, and ₹500 for vandalism.
The ₹15-crore project, initiated in 2021, reflects the commitment to providing a world-class experience for travellers.
