Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia was released from jail on Friday, fueling speculation about his imminent return to the Delhi government. Upon his release, Sisodia spent time with his wife, Seema Sisodia, and visited the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, where he offered prayers. He later paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

In a statement, Sisodia criticized the investigation agencies, claiming that the probes by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were part of a conspiracy to damage the reputation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He expressed gratitude for his release, attributing it to the blessings of Bajrang Bali (Lord Hanuman) and the support of his legal team. Sisodia praised his lawyer, Abhishek Singhvi, as “God incarnate” for his role in securing his release.
Sisodia, who had been jailed for 17 months, compared his experience to enduring isolation in a small cell. He vowed to work tirelessly for the party and dismissed claims by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that his release was merely a bail and not a significant political victory.
AAP leaders, including Punjab ministers, joined Sisodia at the party headquarters to welcome him. Sisodia addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the Aam Aadmi Party would not bow to external pressures and remained committed to its principles.
Saurabh Bhardwaj, an AAP minister, remarked that Hanumanji’s blessings had consistently aided the party during crises, further underscoring the significance of Sisodia’s visit to the temple. The release of Sisodia and his subsequent activities are anticipated to impact the political landscape, particularly ahead of upcoming assembly elections.
