Six Districts Brace for Heavy Rainfall Amid Cyclone Warning

The Regional Meteorological Center has forecasted continued low-pressure rains across the state for the next two days. A cyclone has formed over Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, with the Ganga system currently active over land in West Bengal. Consequently, an orange warning has been issued in several regions.

Today, six districts—Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundergarh, Deogarh, and Keonjhar—are expected to experience heavy rainfall. The State Relief Commissioner (SRC) has urged district administrations to remain vigilant due to the anticipated increase in rainfall from tomorrow. On August 4th and 5th, rain is likely to affect many areas along the north coast, with a risk of road inundation and waterlogging. Fishermen are advised to exercise caution.

Despite the ongoing rainfall, the state remains 10 percent deficient in overall precipitation. Since June 1st, 507.0mm of rain has been recorded. Notably, Malkangiri is the only district with above-normal rainfall, while 15 districts have experienced average rainfall.
