State Government Announces Major IAS Reshuffle

In a significant shake-up within the state’s administration, the government has announced a comprehensive reshuffle of District Magistrates across 20 districts. The changes were officially communicated late last night through a notification issued by the Public Administration and Public Complaints Department. This reshuffle reflects the government’s strategic move to enhance administrative efficiency and bring new leadership to various districts.

The new appointments include Dilip Rautray as the District Magistrate of Bhadrak, Vijay Kumar Das for Gajapati, and Smritranjan Pradhan for Kendrapara. The reshuffle also sees Manul Patwari assigned to Rayagada, Omrit Samaraj to Kandhamal, and Siddeshwar Sabhiram Bondar to Sambalpur. Dattatray Bhausaheb Sindhe will now serve as the District Collector of Cuttack, while Hemkant Say has been appointed as Mayurbhanj District Collector. P. Anbesha Reddy will take charge of Jajpur, and Ashish Kumar Patil has been named the District Collector of Malkangiri. Somesh Kumar Upadhyay is the new District Magistrate of Dhenkanal.

Other notable appointments include Subhadkar Mohapatra for Nabarangpur, Suryashulhi Mayur Vikas for Baleswar, and J. Sonal for Jagatsinghpur. Pawar Sain Prakash has been assigned to Kalahandi, Akshay Sunil Agarwal to Niagara, and Manoj Satyaban to Sundergarh. Kabindra Kumar Sahu will serve as the District Magistrate of Deogarh, while Madhusudan Das takes on the role in Nuapada. Subrat Kumar Panda has been appointed as the District Magistrate of Boudh.

In addition to these district-level appointments, the state has also made significant changes at the senior IAS level. Vijayketan Upadhyay, a 2000 batch IAS officer, has been transferred from his role as Secretary of the Board of Revenue to Director of the Odisha Language, Literature, and Culture Department. Ashish Thackeray, formerly the District Collector of Baleshwar, has been appointed Secretary of the Board of Revenue.

Kamal Lochan Mishra has been appointed Executive Director of the Odisha Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), and Nikhil Pawan Kalyan will now lead as Director of Conservation and Watershed Development. Swadhadev Singh has been given the role of Additional Secretary for Panchayatiraj and Drinking Water.

Despite these extensive changes, the District Magistrates for Khurda, Ganjam, and Puri districts remain the same. The state is also in the process of selecting a new Director General of Police (DGP), which is expected to bring further significant changes at the IPS level in the near future.
