Students Stage Highway Protest After Tragic Incident

Protests have erupted over the deaths of three students at an IAS coaching center in Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar. Students have staged massive highway protests, blaming municipal authorities for negligence. Heavy rains in Delhi yesterday caused water to seep into the basement of the IAS coaching center in Rajendra Nagar. Three students drowned in the flooded library, with one confirmed dead by the time the rescue team arrived. The deceased include one male and two female students.

The heavy rains and resulting basement flooding led to this tragic incident. Students have launched a movement, holding municipal authorities accountable. The BJP has also blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the incident. They criticized the AAP government for failing to address drainage issues, despite having control over the municipality.

BJP spokesperson Majinder Singh Sirsa stated, “This is the most insensitive government in the country’s history. The students’ deaths are not mere accidents; they are murders.” BJP Delhi Chief Birendra Sachched also targeted Delhi Water Board Minister Atishi and local MLA Durgesh .

Sachched claimed the MLA ignored repeated requests from residents to clear the drains, holding the Delhi government responsible for the tragedy. He called for the resignation of the Jal Board Minister and MLA. In response, MLA Durgesh criticized the BJP for failing to solve drainage issues during their 15-year tenure.

He said, “What has the BJP done in the last 15 years? BJP councilors were here for the last 15 years. Why couldn’t they solve the drainage problem? Rajendra Nagar is a swampy area with water lines. Some drains burst, causing a flood. It is impossible to repair the drainage system in one year. Such incidents should not be politicized.”
