Supreme Court Holds Back NEET Judgment

The Supreme Court has concluded the hearing of the NEET paper leak case and reserved its judgment without issuing an opinion. A bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) has withheld its decision, leaving the fate of the exam and its results uncertain.

The controversy surrounding the NEET exam erupted after results were announced on June 4, with students expressing outrage over allegations of paper leaks. Initial reports of the leak emerged from Bihar, sparking doubts about the legitimacy of the results. Notably, 66 students scored top marks, with multiple toppers at various examination centers, raising suspicions about the testing centers’ integrity.

The National Testing Agency’s (NTA) response to the allegations, offering “grace marks” to affected students, was deemed unsatisfactory by many. Consequently, students across India took to the streets in protest against the NTA, with some candidates approaching the court seeking redress.

The Supreme Court’s reserved verdict has left the future of the NEET exam and its results hanging in the balance, as students and stakeholders await the court’s decision with bated breath.
