Survey predicts the historic victory of BJD in Odisha for the sixth time

The latest survey report suggests that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is positioned to establish the government in Odisha with a commanding majority. Projections indicate that out of the 147 assembly seats, the BJD is expected to secure 128 seats. Furthermore, in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, the BJD is anticipated to claim eighteen seats.

Such a potential triumph would represent a historic milestone for the BJD, marking their sixth consecutive term in power. If successful, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would achieve the distinction of becoming India’s longest-serving chief minister. Party leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra, spokesperson Swayam Prakash Mohapatra, and Ipsit Sahu, expressed their enthusiasm during a press conference, underscoring the significant importance of this assembly election for the party.

In 1990, the BJD’s precursor, the Janata Dal led by Biju Patnaik, secured 123 seats, setting a benchmark. Presently, the BJD aims to surpass this record in the upcoming election. Conversely, the survey report predicts that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will clinch 13 seats, while Congress is expected to win 4 seats, CPM- 1, and one independent seat.
