In observance of Shravana Amavasya, the temple will host the Chitalagi Nitti today. The Lord will be adorned with a variety of jewels: Lord Srijagannath will don a diamond cheetah, Sribalbhadra will wear a blue cheetah, and Goddess Subhadra will be adorned with a leaf cheetah. Due to these preparations, public viewing will be restricted from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, as announced by the temple administration.
The ceremonial activities will commence following the first vog mandap. Sridevi and Bhudevi will offer prayers from the Ratnasinghasan, after which Srijiu’s robes will be embalmed and the Jayavijay door will be closed. The Patimahapatra servant reformation will follow, leading to the Chitalagi function for Srijiyu, who is established in the Ratnasinghasan.
As part of the tradition, the golden cheetah previously removed on the night of Bananapurnima will be oiled and studded with gems today. Following the Chitalagi Nitti, a grand bath for the Thakur will take place. Public darshan will resume once the Chaturdhamurthy receives a Mahashana and the two-headed servants descend from the Ratnasinghasan after chanting.
