U.S. Closes Embassy in Kiev Amid Growing Fears of Russian Airstrike

The war between Ukraine and Russia is taking a new turn, and the United States is growing increasingly concerned. The U.S. administration now fears a possible large-scale airstrike from Russia, prompting it to temporarily close its embassy in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital.

In response to the threat, the embassy advised its staff to seek shelter in a safe location. This move follows reports from the U.S. Department of Defense, which indicated that Russia may launch an airstrike on Lviv on November 20.

“The embassy has closed as a precautionary measure,” stated the U.S. Department of Consular Affairs. The embassy also urged U.S. citizens in Ukraine to stay alert for air raid alerts and take necessary security precautions.

In a significant escalation, Ukraine launched a U.S.-made long-range missile at Russia on Tuesday, marking the first such attack in the 10,000-day war. This came after the Biden administration approved Ukraine’s use of the missiles. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin revised his war strategy.

Following Russia’s threats of nuclear and missile attacks, the international community is bracing for a potential global conflict. Several European nations have already advised their citizens to stockpile food and water in preparation for possible war.
