UGC revised the amount for Fellowship programmes

New Delhi: A great news has come from the University Grants Commission (UGC). UGC has decided to increase the amount of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and Doctoral Fellowship. The revised rules of fellowship will come into effect from 1st January this year i.e. 2023.

However, about 31 thousand students will benefit from this decision of UGC. The increased rate will be for JRF and SRF in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child, Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship (DSKPDF), and revised Post-Doctoral Fellowship for women.

In the 572nd meeting held on 20th of last month, the revised fellowship was discussed and approved. The fellowship amount for JRF have been increased from Rs 31,000 to Rs 37,000. Similarly for SRF it is increased from Rs 35,000 to Rs 42,000. In Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for single girl child, the amount increased from 31 thousand to now 37 for junior fellowship and Rs 35,000 to Rs 42,000 for senior fellowship.

Earlier, the amount was Rs 54,000 for the Dr DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowships, but now it becomes Rs 67,000. In post-doctoral fellowship, it was 47 thousand, 49 thousand and 54 thousand for 3 years, but now it becomes 58 thousand, 61 thousand and 67 thousand. Post Doctoral Fellowships for Women, SC/ST, the Fellowship for the tree years have been increased from Rs 47,000 , Rs 49000 and Rs 54,000 to Rs 58,000 , Rs 61000 and Rs 67,000.
