UP Govt’s Kaudia Yatra Directive Faces Legal Challenge in SC

The Supreme Court is set to hear the case related to the Kaudia Yatra in Uttar Pradesh today. The Yogi government has mandated that all shopkeepers along the Kaudia Yatra route display their name plaques prominently. This directive has been challenged in the Supreme Court by the voluntary organization Association for Protection of Civil Rights.

On the 19th of this month, the Yogi government issued an order requiring all shops, restaurants, breakfast stalls, tea shops, and fruit juice vendors along the Kaudia Yatra route to clearly display their names on placards. The purpose of this directive is to enable Kaudia pilgrims to easily identify and purchase goods from their preferred vendors. However, this order has sparked controversy.

Opposition parties and even some allies of the NDA have raised objections to the government’s directive. The dispute, originating in Uttar Pradesh, has now escalated to the Supreme Court.
