Washing Away Corruption: AAP Launches ‘Washing Machine Ka Kaala Jaadu’ Campaign

The “Washing Machine Ka Kaala Jaadu” campaign, introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday, aims to enhance public awareness regarding the current state of the country, as per party officials. During the campaign’s launch event, Gopal Rai, AAP’s Delhi state convener, emphasized the BJP’s purported commitment to combating corruption in the upcoming elections. Rai stated, “But we will tell people about the truth of these claims.”

Opposition parties often use the term “washing machine” to critique the BJP’s inclusion of individuals like Ajit Pawar, Ashok Chavan, and Himanta Biswa Sarma, who have faced corruption allegations. Demonstrating the metaphorical functioning of this machine, Delhi Cabinet minister Saurabh Bharadwaj pointed out that the BJP had run a six-month campaign accusing Himanta Biswa Sarma of involvement in the Saradha scam. “But then he was inducted into the BJP and all his sins were washed away,” he accused.
