Wazed Joy Refutes Visa Cancellation, Applauds Modi’s Role

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has refuted media claims that his mother’s visa has been cancelled. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Wazed clarified that Sheikh Hasina’s visa remains valid and she has not sought political asylum.

Wazed expressed his gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in ensuring Sheikh Hasina’s safety, stating, “Thank you, Prime Minister Modi, for saving my mother’s life. I will always be grateful to PM Modi and the Government of India for their prompt action.”

He emphasized that India should maintain a leadership role in global affairs, particularly in its own neighborhood, and prevent other foreign powers from exerting control. Wazed praised Sheikh Hasina’s government for maintaining peace and fostering economic development in Bangladesh. He stated, “Sheikh Hasina’s government has successfully maintained peace, halted militancy, and ensured stability in the eastern part of our subcontinent.”

Wazed also criticized the recent transition of power in Bangladesh, labeling the new government as unconstitutional. The interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, was inaugurated on August 8 by President Mohammad Shahabuddin in Dhaka.
