According to the information, WhatsApp may be working on a new feature for the app, which will be called Alternate Profile. This feature will add an extra layer of security to make your WhatsApp experience more comfortable.
What will this feature do?
This feature will reportedly allow you to hide your original profile from unwanted people. You’ll be able to add a different photo and name for people you don’t want to see your original profile. You will be able to hide your basic information from them.
WABetaInfo said, “A new optional profile feature will be available within the privacy screen regarding our profile photo and it allows users to configure a different photo and name that will be visible to contacts who use their primary profile.” .
For example, if only your contacts can see your profile photo, that means people outside your contacts list can’t see it, but they will be able to see your alternate profile photo. It is worth noting that the same feature will be available in your profile section as well.
However, this feature is still under development and is not even available for beta testing. But if reports are to be believed, they will soon be available for our use. But from privacy point of view it seems quite beneficial, let’s see when it comes out.
