Women’s Premier League 2024: Auction is today in Mumbai

Preparations for the second edition of the Women’s Premier League(WPL) are going in full swing. So the auction for Women’s Premier League 2024 will be held in Mumbai today.

There will be intense competition among 5 franchises Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriors to buy the player of their choice. BCCI has released a list of 165 players for the auction. 30 players will be sold in today’s auction. There are also 9 foreign players among them.

Earlier, 5 franchise teams Gujarat, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and UP retained the players of their choice and released the other players for auction. A total of 60 players have retained their place in all 5 teams, including 21 foreign players. 29 players were released for the auction.

In the first edition of the Women’s Premier League, each team paid Rs 12 crore towards the purchase of players. While Mumbai Indians and UP Warriors were able to invest the entire amount, the other three teams Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were left with Rs 5 lakh,Rs 35 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively.

The first edition of WPL was held in March this year. No information has been received from the BCCI about date and place of the match of this second edition. Smriti Mandhana became the most expensive player in the first edition. The Bangalore team bought him for Rs 3.4 crore. So now it’s time to watch who will be the most expensive player in the second edition.
