In Wayanad, Kerala, where heavy rains have caused devastating landslides, resulting in over 300 deaths and hundreds missing, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the affected areas to assess the situation. Accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi, he toured landslide-hit regions including Churalamala and Mundakkai.

However, during his visit, Gandhi faced a confrontation from a local youth. While traveling to a site in Obayanad, Gandhi’s vehicle was stopped near Bailey Bridge. The young man, frustrated by what he perceived as a lack of direct engagement, criticized Gandhi for remaining in his car.
“You are our MP. We elected you, but you’re just driving around,” the youth said, urging Gandhi to exit the vehicle. When a local MLA attempted to mediate, the young man responded defiantly, stating, “You can’t scare me. I have people here to protect me.” The incident highlighted the local frustration with perceived inaction amid the ongoing crisis.
