Indian Art and Culture Thrives at New York’s India Day Parade

New York City recently resonated with the vibrant sounds of traditional Indian music and the grandeur of Rama Temple architecture during the 42nd annual India Day Parade. Hundreds of Indian immigrants proudly marched, waving the tricolor flag, playing drums, and dancing, showcasing their deep love and connection to India’s rich art and culture.

The parade featured over 40 floats, including a stunning depiction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which captured the attention of all in attendance. The 18-foot-long, 9-foot-wide, and 8-foot-high model of the temple was crafted in India, adding an authentic touch to the celebration.Organized by the Federation of Indian Associations, the parade saw participation from more than 50 marching groups and over 30 bands.

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha served as the grand marshal, while actor Pankaj Tripathi and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari joined as special guests, adding star power to the event.The India Day Parade, held annually to celebrate India’s independence, has been a cherished tradition in New York for over four decades, reflecting the enduring cultural ties between India and its diaspora in the United States.
