BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik expressed concern today over the abuse and torture of a major and his companion in Bharatpur police station. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident. However, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari rejected Naveen’s call for a judicial inquiry.
Pujari told the media, “If we talk about judicial investigations, where is the report on the Kandhamal investigation? Naveen Babu had 24 judicial inquiries, but where are those reports? A violence-free Odisha could have been achieved if the previous 24-year government had acted. Naveen was working as a police officer. Our government is striving to build an ideal police force. If Naveen had understood this during his tenure, women would not be facing rapes today.” Pujari further criticized, stating that Naveen, who didn’t follow Rajdharma, is now trying to lecture a government just 100 days old.
Naveen Patnaik reiterated his concern over the Bharatpur police station incident, calling it highly unfortunate. He condemned the torture of an army major and his companion, urging strict action against the accused through a judicial inquiry.
