Nursing Officers in Odisha Demand Regularization and End to Outsourcing

Esma, a dedicated nursing officer, leads the All Odisha Nursing Association as they begin their movement today. The Odisha Nursing Employees Union outlines 10 demands, including the abolition of the outsourcing system and the regularization of nursing staff.

The association guarantees that, in consideration of patients, they will not disrupt emergency services today and tomorrow, ensuring continued care in the ICU, OT, and Emergency departments. However, the union warns that if officials do not meet their demands within these two days, they will escalate their movement on the 27th.

In response, the director of nursing sends a letter to all government hospital directors and superintendents, urging them to take action if the protests continue. The letter mentions that ESMA has been in effect against nursing officers since August 7 for six months, meaning that any protests will result in disciplinary measures.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling addresses the situation, stating that the government has called the nursing union for discussions about their demands. He expresses optimism about reaching a resolution and emphasizes that health services will remain uninterrupted.
