A train accident unfolded in Tamil Nadu when the Mahisur-Darbhanga Bagmati Superfast Express collided with a stationary freight train in Tiruvallur. The collision derailed 12 coaches, and two coaches caught fire.
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM near Sabrabpettai station, injuring 19 passengers. Fortunately, Southern Railway confirmed that no passengers died, but 2 to 3 remain in critical condition and are now in the ICU.
Rescue teams launched operations promptly, and over 20 ambulances reached the scene to assist passengers. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed in to enhance rescue efforts.
Due to the accident, authorities canceled two trains and changed the routes of eight others. Crews actively work to remove the derailed coaches and repair the tracks. At the time of the collision, the express train traveled at 75 km per hour and mistakenly entered a loop line designated for freight vehicles.
