BJP Accuses Supriya Sule and Nana Patole of Bitcoin Misuse Ahead of Maharashtra Polls

Voting is currently underway for the Maharashtra assembly elections. Meanwhile, a day before the polls, former IPS officer Rabindranath Patil from Pune levelled serious allegations against Sharad Pawar’s group leader, Supriya Sule, and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole. Patil accused the two leaders of misusing Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency scam.

In response, Supriya Sule has written to the Election Commission, filing a complaint against Patil and Gauram Mehta for cyber fraud. Sule’s lawyer emphasized that both individuals are spreading false information to defame her, which constitutes a serious offense. The letter urges the Election Commission to take immediate action.

BJP national president Sudhanshu Trivedi also seized upon the allegations, claiming that Sule and Patole raised funds for the assembly elections through Bitcoin in the 2018 cryptocurrency scam. He expressed concern about the integrity of the election process under such circumstances and presented an audio clip allegedly containing evidence of Sule and Patole’s involvement in the scam.

Supriya Sule, however, rejected the claims. She denied that the voice in the audio clip was hers and called the allegations false and fabricated. Sule challenged Trivedi to engage in a public debate on the matter and reiterated that she had no involvement in Bitcoin transactions. She also stated that she had filed a cybercrime complaint, emphasizing that the accusations were simply an attempt by the BJP to deflect attention due to their frustration.
