The case against Bihar’s corrupt IAS officer, Sanjeev Hans, continues to grow. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Hans and is seizing his assets. Recently, the ED seized properties and buildings worth Rs 23.72 crore from his premises across three locations.
The ED has confiscated three plots in Nagpur, a flat in Delhi, and three flats in Jaipur, all of which Sanjeev Hans registered in the names of his relatives and staff members. Although he did not own these properties directly, Hans used his associates to hide his assets.
Over the past three days, the ED has carried out investigations in multiple cities, including Delhi, Gurugram, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Nagpur. On the 6th, the ED interrogated Hans’ wife, Mona Hans, and her husband for approximately three hours at their office in Patna.
In addition to Hans, the ED has arrested his business partner, Gulab Jacob, and developers Praveen Choudhury and Pushparaj Bajaj for their involvement in asset misappropriation. All four are currently incarcerated at Beur Jail in Patna.
The ED has also uncovered significant assets hidden under Hans’ family members’ names, including Rs 60 crore worth of shares and Rs 6 crore spread across 70 bank accounts. The ED has frozen these assets along with jewelry worth Rs 80 lakh, cash amounting to Rs 65 lakh, silver biscuits worth Rs 11 lakh (13 kg), and gold biscuits valued at Rs 1.25 crore.Additionally, the ED seized Rs 20 lakh from the residence of Hans’ employees and found Rs 1.07 crore with him. Hans has been unable to explain the origins of this money.
