During an overnight raid in Cuttack, authorities seized a significant amount of illegal cough syrup The Drug Control and Unemployment Departments jointly carried out this operation, uncovering a large stock of illicit cough syrup at a medicine farm in Sumandi village, under Cuttack Sadar police jurisdiction.
The raid led to the arrest of Jairam Sahu, owner of Krishna Medicine Farm in Shankhatras, and his partner, Prafulla Kumar Jena, by the Unemployment Department for their involvement in buying and selling illegal drugs. Officials seized a large quantity of cough syrup along with 32 varieties of banned drugs from the premises. Authorities have now sealed the licensed medicine farm. Before this, the Unemployment Department had been investigating following allegations of illegal drug and cough syrup sales at the farm.
