The bird flu situation in Puri district has worsened. In response, the Puri administration has imposed a 3-month ban on poultry farming in the affected areas. They have directed poultry farms in Pipili, Delang, Nimapada, and Satavaya to stop operations immediately.
The administration has restricted poultry farming within 1 km of the infected areas and barred the movement of chickens beyond a 10 km radius. Poultry farmers must test chicken samples every 15 days, causing concern among farm owners due to the 3-month ban.
Recently, a central team visited Durham in Puri district to assess the outbreak and advised residents within 1 km of infected zones to avoid eating chicken.
Reports confirm the death of over 30,000 chickens across Puri district due to bird flu. Some chickens have also been culled and buried to control the spread.
