Asika, Ganjam: BJP leader Srinivas Bhanj was attacked on Sutakal Street in Kotinda late last night. While returning home, two to three men reportedly assaulted him with iron rods. The attackers took advantage of the dark to carry out the attack.Locals heard his cries and rushed to help.
They took him to the Asika sub-district hospital. Due to his worsening condition, doctors moved him to Brahmapur Medical College and Hospital. His condition is critical.Srinivas Bhanj, president of BJP’s Ghumsar district Yuva Morcha, believes the attack was due to political rivalry.
He said two BJP candidates had been nominated for the district council, which led to tension.The Kotinda police are investigating the case but have not yet made any arrests. The motive behind the attack is still unclear.
