The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections, along with the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election in Kerala. This follows Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s substantial victory in Wayanad during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where he also won in Rae Bareli, prompting him to vacate the Wayanad seat.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar confirmed that the Wayanad by-election will occur on November 13.The Election Commission will publish the official gazette notification on October 18. Candidates must submit their nominations by October 25, and they have until October 30 to withdraw their nominations. Voting will take place on November 13, with results announced on November 23.
In addition to Wayanad, the Commission plans to conduct by-elections on November 13 for 47 vacant assembly seats across the country. By-elections for one Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and one assembly seat in Uttarakhand will take place on November 20, with vote counting and results also scheduled for November 23.
