Police have arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in Hude village, Udupi district, Karnataka. They had been residing there without valid passports or visas for the past three years.
The Udupi Superintendent of Police, Arun, reported that the arrests took place when one suspect, Mohammed Manik, attempted to flee to Dubai using a fake passport. Authorities apprehended him at Bajpe airport in Dakshina Kannada district.
During questioning, Manik revealed that seven other Bangladeshi nationals lived with him in Hude village. Consequently, police acted on this information and raided the area on Friday, detaining the seven individuals for further questioning.
As investigations progressed, authorities uncovered that the suspects possessed fake Aadhaar cards. They are currently working to determine how the individuals obtained these fake documents and managed to cross the border from Bangladesh into India. The eight Bangladeshi nationals remain in police custody and are expected to appear in a local court soon.
In a separate crackdown, Bengaluru police arrested ten additional Pakistani nationals on Tuesday for illegally residing in India using fake documents. With these recent arrests, the total number of Pakistani nationals detained in the Jigani area, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, has reached 17 in recent weeks.
These arrests followed the detention of Parvez, who allegedly aided and harbored 22 Pakistani nationals in Bengaluru and other regions of Karnataka. Reports indicate that Parvez helped these individuals adopt Hindu names, enabling them to blend in and evade detection.
The arrested group, which includes six women, faces charges for staying in India on fake documents and overstaying their visas. Notably, some detainees had adopted Hindu names, while others retained their original Pakistani identities. Police confirmed they found the group in the Jigani area, known for its industrial and residential settings.
