Lawrence Bishnoi has become a hot topic of discussion, with his name on everyone’s lips. Despite his imprisonment in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail, he continues to instill fear in the community.
Recently, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. Even from behind bars, Bishnoi’s influence remains strong. The Mumbai Police sought to take him into custody but face significant restrictions due to an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sources report that the Ministry issued an order under Section 268, preventing any agency or state police from taking Bishnoi into custody for one year. This directive, issued on August 30, 2023, aims to maintain law and order during his transfer.
While authorities cannot take him into custody, they can still interrogate him. However, the order’s deadline has now been extended until August 30, 2025, leaving the Mumbai Police unable to act, even if they wish to.
To effectively tackle the threat posed by a notorious gangster like Bishnoi, the police need to take him into custody and conduct thorough interrogations. Unfortunately, the Home Ministry’s directive has tied the hands of the Mumbai Police, prolonging the wait for any potential action against him.
